Intro

Everything we get asked.

We've been doing painting, drywall, popcorn removal, finish carpentry, and specialty repairs in Palm Beach County for over 25 years. The questions below are the ones we hear most often — on the phone, during walk-throughs, in follow-up emails. If your question isn't answered here, call us at (561) 507-8929.

This page is organized by topic: getting started, pricing & timing, process & quality, and logistics. Each answer is what we'd actually tell you on the phone — not legal-disclaimer language, not marketing copy.

I · General

Getting started with Tabora.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all of Palm Beach County, Florida. Our headquarters is in Greenacres at 6061 10th Ave N, and we work regularly across the entire county: Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Lantana, Palm Springs FL, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and the gated and equestrian communities within them. We don't typically take work outside Palm Beach County — staying local is how we keep response times fast and quality consistent.

Are you licensed and insured?

Tabora Painting & Drywall Finisher LLC (Florida LLC L22000238774, EIN 88-3226595) is a registered Florida limited-liability company and is fully insured for general liability. We provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) on request before work begins. Florida does not state-license painting trades, so there's no "painting license" to hold — but we're happy to discuss county-level Certificate of Competency requirements for any specialty work your project involves.

Do you do free estimates?

Yes. Every estimate is free, in writing, and includes a clear scope of work. We come out, walk the job with you, ask about timing and finish preferences, and send a written estimate within 24–48 hours. There's no deposit required to receive an estimate, no obligation, and no high-pressure follow-up.

Do you require a deposit?

No deposit is required to book work. For larger projects (typically over $5,000), a small materials deposit may be requested before purchase of paint and supplies, but the structure is always clearly stated in the written estimate before you sign. We don't ask for any money up front to schedule the job.

Do you provide written estimates?

Yes — always. Verbal quotes are not estimates; they're guesses. Our written estimate itemizes scope (rooms, surfaces, square footage), prep work (drywall repair, caulk, sanding), materials (paint brand and product line), and timeline. Reading the estimate before signing is how you avoid scope creep, surprise charges, and "oh, that's extra."

What hours are you available?

Monday through Saturday, 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. We answer the phone — or if we miss the call, we return it the same day, usually within an hour or two. For after-hours emergencies (water damage, hurricane prep, urgent before-listing repairs), text the number and we'll respond if we're awake.

¿Hablan español? / Do you speak Spanish?

Sí — atendemos clientes en inglés y español. Owner Omar Tabora speaks both fluently, and our crew is bilingual. You can call, text, or message in whichever language you prefer. Our entire website is also available in Spanish at /es/. Llámenos al (561) 507-8929 — atendemos en español.

II · Pricing & timing

What it costs, how long it takes.

How much does it cost to paint a house in Palm Beach County?

Most interior repaints in Palm Beach County run between $2 and $6 per square foot of paintable surface, depending on prep work, paint quality, and ceiling height. A standard 2,000 sq ft single-story interior typically lands between $4,500 and $8,500 all-in. Exterior repaints vary more — coastal sun and salt air mean we often recommend higher-grade paint, and stucco prep can add significantly to the labor.

How much does exterior painting cost in Florida?

Exterior repaints typically run $3 to $7 per square foot of wall surface in PBC, depending on whether it's stucco, wood, or vinyl, and how much prep is needed (pressure cleaning, hairline crack repair, caulk replacement). A typical 2,000–2,400 sq ft single-story house lands between $5,500 and $10,000. Coastal homes often need a higher-grade paint product (~$15–$25 more per gallon) because of salt-air exposure.

How much does drywall repair cost?

Small patches (under 6") run $75–$150 each. Medium repairs ($150–$400) cover holes from doorknobs, hanging anchors, or minor water damage. Full-room re-tape and skim work runs $400–$1,200 depending on size. Whole-house drywall remediation (water damage, hurricane, structural issues) is project-priced after walk-through — usually $2,500–$8,000+.

How much does popcorn ceiling removal cost?

Typical pricing runs $1.50–$3.50 per square foot of ceiling, including scraping, skim coat, prime, and paint. A single 12×14 room is roughly $400–$700. A whole-house removal of 1,500–2,000 sq ft of ceiling is usually $3,000–$6,500. Asbestos testing for pre-1980 homes adds about $100. Read the full breakdown on the Popcorn & Stucco page.

What affects the cost of a paint job most — square footage, prep, or paint quality?

Prep is usually the biggest variable, followed by paint quality, then square footage. Two houses with identical square footage can have wildly different prices: one needs minor caulk and a quick sand; the other needs hairline crack repair across the stucco, baseboard replacement, and skim work on damaged drywall. Paint quality is second — a $30 gallon and an $80 gallon both cover the same square footage, but one lasts 5 years and one lasts 15 in Florida sun.

How do you handle payment?

Final invoice is due on completion. We accept check, ACH bank transfer, Zelle, and major credit cards (a 3% processing fee applies on credit). For larger projects, payment is structured as a deposit on materials (after estimate signed), a progress payment at midpoint, and the balance on completion. Smaller jobs are typically a single payment when the work is done.

How long does a typical interior repaint take?

A standard 1,500–2,000 sq ft interior repaint takes 2–4 working days for our crew. Drywall repair, texture matching, baseboard work, or extensive prep can add a day or two. We give you a realistic timeline up front and we hit it — if a project is going to take 4 days, we don't pretend it'll take 2.

What's your turnaround for a quote?

After the walk-through, you'll receive a written estimate within 24 to 48 hours. Larger or more complex jobs (whole-house remodels, multi-trade scopes) sometimes take 3–5 days to scope properly — we'd rather take the time and quote correctly than rush a number that has to change later.

III · Process & quality

How we actually do the work.

What paint brands do you use?

Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore are our default brands — they're the standard for premium residential and commercial work, the colors are reliable, and the products hold up to Florida UV. We can use other brands if you have a specific preference (PPG, Behr, Valspar) but we'll explain the trade-offs. Specific product lines: SuperPaint, Duration, Emerald, Aura, Regal Select for interior; Resilience, Latitude, and Aura Exterior for outside.

How do you handle prep work?

Prep is half the job — or more, on older homes. Standard prep includes moving and protecting furniture, floor protection, light scuffing of glossy surfaces, caulk repair where it's failed, drywall patching for small holes, and primer on stained or freshly-patched areas. Extensive prep (skim coat, full caulk replacement, baseboard repair) is itemized in the estimate so you see what's included.

What if it rains during an exterior job?

We watch the forecast and schedule around rain. Once an exterior job is in progress, we paint when surfaces are dry and the forecast holds for at least 4–6 hours after we stop. If rain comes through unexpectedly mid-day, we stop and resume when surfaces are dry again. Most of our exterior projects span enough days that one rain day doesn't extend the schedule meaningfully.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We warranty our workmanship for two years against peeling, blistering, and finish failure that's not caused by underlying structural issues, water intrusion, or impact damage. Material warranties (paint, drywall compound, caulk) are passed through from the manufacturer — many premium paints carry 15–25 year warranties. If something fails, we come back and fix it.

How do you protect furniture and floors?

Furniture is moved to the center of the room and covered with plastic, or moved to another room when possible. Floors are covered with thick canvas drop cloths or rosin paper for hard floors, plastic sheeting for carpet. HVAC vents are sealed with painter's plastic to keep paint particles and dust out of the system. Doorways are masked. We treat the house like we'd want ours treated.

IV · Logistics

HOAs, gates, and special situations.

Do you handle HOA-compliant work?

Yes. Many of the gated communities we work in (Mizner Country Club, BallenIsles, Old Palm, Frenchman's Reserve, Boca West, Wycliffe, Ibis, etc.) have architectural review boards that approve paint colors, trim profiles, and exterior finishes. We've worked through approvals at most of them. Bring us the HOA paint palette or specification sheet, and we'll match it — or apply for color approval on your behalf if needed.

Can you work in gated and equestrian communities?

Yes — we work in most of the major gated communities across PBC, including Wellington's equestrian estates, Palm Beach Gardens golf-resort communities, and the Mizner-style developments in Boca Raton. For projects in gated communities, we coordinate with the HOA for vehicle access passes, work hours, and sometimes a security escort. Equestrian properties often need scheduling around horse care and training schedules — we plan around it.
